I was tired of my attention being hijacked by infinite scroll.
Personal Paper is my attempt to reclaim my attention and become more intentional about my news consumption.
There are two ways you can use this:
- Read the topics that are posted here. Topics are updated at 5:05 am and 5:05 pm ET (America/New_York GMT-5, or GMT-4 during daylight saving time), each as often as its definition's cadence says: twice a day for most, once a day for some.
- Roll your own and follow news about any topic. Do that by asking your favorite LLM to set it up: github.com/ptrcksmth/personal-paper.
If you roll your own:
- You define a topic and how frequently you want to read about it
- You tell the system which sources to check (or ask it to recommend some)
- When it runs, it will check those sources and look for other coverage of the stories it finds
- It will make editorial decisions based on your interests and the extent of coverage of a story
- Every time it runs, it creates an edition with updated coverage of your topic
- You can publish your topics here on personalpaper.org or host them anywhere you’d like
